Cycling in Oswestry and Ludlow

In July 2011, Shropshire Council's bid to the Local Sustainable Transport Fund was successful. This means that between 2011 and 2015 we will receive £5million to promote and improve sustainable transport in Shropshire. Part of this project will include extending Cycle Shrewsbury style campaigns to Oswestry and Ludlow.

We're just getting started with our work in these towns and we're looking for people to be on steering groups for our sustainable transport promotions in both towns. Contact us if you'd like to find out more, call 01743 253017 or email transport@shropshire.gov.uk.  

New maps

Our first step has been to produce walking and cycling maps for each town. These can be downloaded below and paper copies will be available shortly at local tourist information centres, libraries, or to order from Shropshire Council.

These new leaflets complement the existing leisure cycling leaflets available for Oswestry and Ludlow in our market towns cycle rides series, which contain suggestions for four circular day rides starting in each town.

In addition we have produced a new leaflet in our family friendly rides series for the Lady Halton Loop route in Ludlow. Download the new leaflet.

Journey planner

Both towns and Whitchurch have also been added to the Transport Direct cycle journey planner. The planner allows you to search for the quickest, quietest or most recreational cycle route between two locations and provides route maps and directions.

Keep up to date

Sign up to be a Cycle Shrewsbury member. If you tick the Ludlow or Oswestry box on the registration form we'll update you with more information about cycling in Oswestry or Ludlow when it's available.
