Results for first cycling towns

Yesterday the Department for Transport (DfT) announced the results of monitoring of the first six Cycling Demonstration Towns which started in October 2005. The results show a 27% increase in cycling trips in these towns.

The DfT also announced increase funding for 2009/10 for the cycling towns programme. Cycle Shrewsbury will receive an additional £135,000 for monitoring, minor improvements, such as resurfacing, and investigating new crossings.
