Porthill footbridge closures July/August

Essential maintenance will be carried out on Porthill footbridge for two periods during July and August. The bridge links the Quarry with Porthill and forms part of National Cycle Network route 81.

The first phase will start on Tuesday 21 July 2009 and is expected to take up to three days to complete. The bridge will remain open; however, it will be necessary to hold people up for short periods between 9.00am and 4.00pm while surveys are carried out.

During the second phase the bridge will be closed to the public for up to four days starting on 3 August 2009. These closures will be in place from 9.00am until 4.00pm each day with the bridge being re-opened at night.

When the bridge is closed, pedestrians and cyclists will be diverted over the Welsh Bridge.
