Shrewsbury BikeFest 2011

Shrewsbury Sports Village, Sundorne Road, Shrewsbury

BikeFest is Cycle Shrewsbury's fantastic free day out for all the family, and this year we are celebrating our 5th BikeFest.

 

BikeFest 2011 features some special new activities including:

• A "fresh air miles" ride from the Quarry to Bike Fest (3 miles). Meet by the statue of Hercules at 10.15 – no need to book in advance. Full details. This ride is not suitable for you if you ride with stabilisers on your bike – there will be stabilisers-off sessions at BikeFest.

• The one man cycling circus - Solo Circus

• Learn to ride a bike with the team from Islabikes, and try out one of their extra special bikes for children.

• Wildlife and waterways - a guided ride along our latest route (7 miles approx) leaving BikeFest at 2pm. No need to book in advance, just sign up on the day. Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult. See details of the route here.

• Local cycling hero, Luke Grivell-Mellor, will be answering your questions and cutting the BikeFest cake. Find out more. 

And of course we will have all our usual favourites including:

• A cycle training session on the track with Mid Shropshire Wheelers cycling club 10am-11am, for all confident cyclists under 16
• Have a go at BMX (bikes available to borrow)
• Cycle skills training for all ages and abilities
• Bling your bike for the decorated bike parade
• Face painting
• Make your own pedal-powered smoothie
• Dr Bike safety checks
• Bike It tent with cycle-themed arts and crafts
• Quest 88 - adapted bikes for cyclists with disabilities
• Information stalls
• Prize draw - win vouchers to spend in Shrewsbury Market Hall
