I'm Kim Williams Cycle Shrewsbury's new BikeIt Officer.

A bit about me

I can't remember life with out a bike. I grew up in mid Wales where a bike was the only way to get around if you wanted any kind of freedom. I cycled my way through university and then cycled my way to work. Alongside cycling I love the outdoors especially mountaineering and camping. At home I spend a lot of time on my allotment and to relax I enjoy crochet, yoga and crafty things.

Life before BikeIt

My interest in all things environmental influenced my choice of degree. I studied Ecology and then trained to teach. I think BikeIt is perfect as it enables me to combine my cycling with education and environmental awareness. I have taught in primary schools and in further education.

What I am up to

I am busy making contact with local schools and arranging meetings to get BikeIt Shrewsbury off to a flying start. I am also attending lots of training courses to make sure that my skills are as up to date as they can be and gathering lots and lots of new ideas.

The BikeIt officer is funded by Sustrans. Find out more about Bikeit.

If you're a teacher, parent or governor at a school in Shrewsbury and you are interested in being a BikeIt school or you just want to know a bit more about BikeIt email me: kim.williams@sustrans.org.uk.
