John Grimshaw CBE's visit to Shrewsbury

john-grimshawLast week John Grimshaw CBE, Cycling England's technical advisor and former Chief Executive of Sustrans, paid a visit to Shrewsbury.

John has extensive experience of cycling infrastructure in the UK and further afield.

John has visited Shrewsbury on a number of occasions and spent Tuesday 22 September (on his bike) reviewing existing facilities and looking at proposals for Cycle Shrewsbury projects.

On Wednesday, John gave a workshop advising on what makes a good 'cycling town' and how, Shrewsbury can achieve this. The workshop was attended by over 30 people from Shropshire Council and engineering consultants, Mouchel. Discussions looked at the type of infrastructure that is needed to attract would-be cyclists and make it clear that cyclists (and pedestrians) are valued travellers in the town.

You can see more photos of John's visit in the Cycle Shrewsbury photo gallery.
