Picture of the month

In January 2010 all of the Bike It schools entered a competition to design pictures for a Bike It calendar. Each month we are going to feature one of the best pictures from the competition at the top of this page. This month is Kirsty from Oxon Primary School's sunny picture for July.

Safer routes to school schemes

Safer routes to school is a project which makes improvements to roads and paths around schools to try to make it safer for children going to school.

There are currently two areas of Shrewsbury where safer routes to school schemes are proposed. Find out more and have your say on these proposals by selecting from the links below:

  • Oakmeadow School, Bayston Hill
  • York Road - route to Greenacres Primary School, Grange Primary School and Grange Secondary School.

New places to park your bike at school

You might have noticed some new cycle racks or shelters being built at your school recently.

Cycle Shrewsbury has started to make sure that all schools in Shrewsbury have covered bike racks so that you can park your bike without having to worry about it getting stolen or wet from the rain. We've also been installing new scooter racks to free up space in your cycle racks for bikes.

Schools where new or better cycle racks have been built so far are:

  • St. Giles CE Primary School The launch of the new cycle parking canopy at Belvidere School
  • Severndale School
  • St Mary's Catholic Primary School
  • Coleham Primary School
  • St Winefride's Convent School
  • Wakeman School
  • Greenacres Primary School
  • Mount Pleasant Junior School
  • Mount Pleasant Infant School
  • Belvidere School
  • Sundorne School
  • Meole Brace School Science College
  • Bicton CE Primary School
  • Bomere Heath Primary School
  • The Wilfred Owen School
  • Radbrook Primary School
  • Martin Wilson Primary School
  • Belvidere Primary School

Check out some more photos of some of the new cycle parking in our school cycling photo gallery.

By the end of this school year all the schools in Shrewsbury should have safe dry places to leave your bike. Keep your eyes open for new cycle racks at your school!
