Cycle Shrewsbury will be doing lots of work with and in schools to promote cycling. We have two employees working specifically with schools and children in Shrewsbury. Kim Williams, our BikeIt Officer started working with schools in September 2009. Richard Stephens, the community cycling coach started in March 2010.

Bike It is a Sustrans project. The Bike It officer, Kim Williams, will work with schools mostly during school hours to organise loads of great, fun cycling activities and events, including bike checks and skills sessions. She is available to give assemblies and will talk to parents and governors about the benefits of cycling.

Richard Stephens, our community cycling coach is working with school children usually outside of school hours. He will be arranging after school cycling clubs and interschool competitions including both cyclo-cross and track events at the Shrewsbury Sports Village.

Richard started work in March 2010, more details of what he is doing will be added to this page in the coming weeks.
Kim and Richard work closely with each other and the rest of the Cycle Shrewsbury team to promote cycling in schools and raise the levels of cycling amongst children in Shrewsbury.
